Portugal progress to playoff final after Diogo Jota brace sees off Turkey

Portugal kept their hopes of reaching the 2022 World Cup alive as they overcame a spirited Turkey side 3-1 in their UEFA World Cup playoff semi-final.

The hosts took the lead through Otavio in the 15th minute, but Turkey responded well and Burak Yilmaz leveled the scores just after the half-hour mark.

Portugal regained the lead through Diogo Jota in the second half, and the Liverpool forward added a second late on to secure the win.

Portugal will now face North Macedonia in the playoff final on Tuesday, with the winner securing a place at the World Cup in Qatar.
