Kobe Bryant, the NBA legend

Early life

Kobe Bean Bryant was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 23, 1978. He was the son of former NBA player Joe Bryant.

Career

Bryant played college basketball at the University of Connecticut. He was selected by the Charlotte Hornets with the 13th overall pick in the 1996 NBA draft but was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers on draft day. Bryant spent his entire 20-year NBA career with the Lakers. He won five NBA championships with the team and was named the NBA Most Valuable Player in 2008. Bryant also led the NBA in scoring twice and was an 18-time All-Star.

Death

Bryant died in a helicopter crash on January 26, 2020, along with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven others.
